Lietuvos rytas wins Euroleague ANGT Kaunas!

U18 Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius captured the crown at the end of an exciting weekend at the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Kaunas to secure its place at the ANGT Finals in Belgrade. Rytas routed U18 Stellazzurra Rome 55-76 in the Kaunas final led by Marek Blazevic, who posted 19 points and 11 rebounds. Rytas became the second team to advance to the ANGT Finals at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four after U18 Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona, which won the ANGT Ciutat de L’Hospitalet tournament. Rytas guard Deividas Sirvydis was named tournament MVP.

He was joined by teammate Blazevic, Stellazzurra’s Aristide Mouaha, Rokas Jokubaitis of U18 Zalgiris Kaunas and Mathis Dossou-Yovo of U18 CFBB Paris on the All-Tournament Team.

U18 Zalgiris Kaunas rebounded from its first-ever loss in ANGT Kaunas history to grab third place with an 82-65 victory over U18 CSKA Moscow. Volodymyr Markovetskyy and Martynas Arlauskas both scored 17 points and Erikas Venskus added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win. U18 CFBB Paris came back from 10 points down in the final 100 seconds to beat U18 Khimki Moscow Region 72-74 and grab fifth place. Yohan Choupas scored 16 points, including a three-pointer with 2.8 seconds left, to give the reigning ANGT champions the win and a 2-2 record in Kaunas.

In the seventh-place game, U18 VEF Riga scored an 86-81 victory over U18 Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul for its first win of the weekend. Niks Linis tallied 21 points for the winners and Oskars Hlebovickis added 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks for VEF (source: euroleague.net).
